I considered doing this once but then I figured that as soon as I got rid of my slider I would need it for something. So I just decided to stick with what I already have.

i have had a slider on my old ranger, and my current 150, and i NEVER used that thing. i want a solid rear window soooo bad. i say trade. i guess if you didn't have a tool box it'd be nice to grab a beer or something out the bed, but i've always had toolboxes so its useless to me.

I always wanted a slider, but like the solid window being more secure.

Evan you should try using your slider open more often if you arent. It can give you that breeze you want without messing up your hair. Also, if I was in SC I would have mine practically always open!

I say keep the slider. I had a slider on my 93 and loved every minute of it. never used my A/C.
My 04 has solid and i wish i had my slider back. It worked great for staying cool and so i can throw my trash in my bed....

ALSO FOR THOSE WHO SAY SLIDER ARE NOT SECURE. YOU CAN BREAK THE SOLID WINDOW JUST AS EASY. ALSO WHEN I LOCKED THE KEYS IN MY 93 I COULD NOT GET THE SLIDER OPEN AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OF PRYING

I'd take a solid on a full size truck any day but a slider on a Ranger. I find it makes the air circulate through the cab alot better. Even in the winter I sometimes open it up so I can crank the heat and it just gets warm and doesn't start making you sweat.

I went from a solid that got broken so i got a slider because i like it better with the air flow, i felt trapped with the solid.

i agree about the whole ventalation thing. the only bad thing is in the rain/wet weather, it can come in that window with the wind blowing it around. before i quit weedman, my boss broke hte solid rear window by removing the tank. he replaced it with a slider for me. it was nice having a draft between jobs on those hot summer days.

look at it this way too, if the solid window gets broken, you replace the whole window. if a section of the slider gets broke, it's just a section. i dunno which is cheaper, but i'd get just a section is cheaper.

oh yea, i forgot, i ordered my 08 with a slider. i was upset cuz i didn't want tinted glass. unfortunately, with the slider i had to get tinted glass. so the rear doors and the slider are tinted. the fronts are not.

And about people saying that the solid window is more secure. Think about it, there gonna get in either way. Hell if you had a $500 alarm system they would still get into your truck in fact I think that having a rear slider window would make it harder to break in because they would break the 1 section of the window and they would have a hard time getting through that so they would have to break out the other windows and support too.
