well i took the DS out, and took that piece off, and put the DS back in. My dad believes its some sort type of harmonic ballancer for the DS like you have for the crankshaft pulley.

I drove around the block, an di get a couple lil vibrations, lil buzz's, but thats about it. ill have to deal with it till i can get the new end.

thanks for the help.

I had the same thing happen. 300 some bucks bought me a brand new drive shaft. This was on my 98. The guy tried telling me it was from doing burnouts but the truck could barely chirp the tires with a 4 banger and 3.45 gears

so that part is none repairible? I was kinda thinkin that, as it looks like its either pressed onto the yoke, or you have to replace that hole end.

I hope i can find a cheap driveshaft in the junkyard. will a newer model aluminum shaft fit? like ones from an edge?

Just an update. I called the ford dealer, explained my problem and what i needed, they didnt have any in stock so they referred me to a driveshaft shop. Called them up, talked to the guy, and explained that the balancer is not needed. They remove the balancer from the brand new yokes they install, to prevent situations like mine. He said that if you reinstall the shaft, and have no vibrations, then it will be fine. If you get vibrations, bring in the driveshaft and theyll rebalance it.
