Project Ranger Begins

Well after about 4 months of my truck being 100% stock i thought i would start. I was going to lift it and tires, brush guard and off road lights but my step dad and i got to talking about it the other day and since it being a 97 2wd 4 banger it would look good lowered, give it the street truck look and feel...so i was looking around and found a flow 40 with turn down and put it on tonight..got to love the rumble without the decibles...and painted my grill with bumper chrome and dang does it get to lookin better every minute. Next step is going to take my load springs out of the back to level it and maybe reverse my shackles, as for the front im not sure, we are going with a 3/4 or 4/5 lower stance with Boss mustang wheels that we are looking for now, try to get it to handle better...

If anyone has some thoughts or things i need to do let me know, i will take any options i can get...i will keep everyone posted...

I'd either pull the slow little 2.3L and swap in a 5.0L/5-spd or a 2.3T swap, that would give it the real street truck "feel". Got any pics?

personally i would flip the hangers/shackle... now thats not a Flip kit.. thats drilling out the rear rivits on the back hangers flipping them and the shackles 180* and bolting them back up. it gets you a 2" exact drop every time... and only costs like $15 cause you need to buy 8 grade 8 blots and 8 grade 8 nuts...

here is my thread when i did my splash
https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...t=splash+lower

there is pics all thew it like middle of page 1 and page 2 and 3 so just look at the whole thing

Mines basically the same as Zachs truck, except mine is a 2000.

Zach, what is the color of that truck called? Is it autumn orange? Every pic i've seen of your splash looks red (thats how autumn orange is, until the sun hits it). Mine is orange all the time, and gets brighter when the sun hits it.

What was the other 8%? lol

Was it a metalic color? I bet if you had takin a picture with the sun shining directly on it, it would have been orange in the picture (judging by how there is some orange on the tailgate in one of those pics from the sun hitting it).

You got me on the motor though.........I kinda like my 2.5 though. However, it would be nice to have more power every once in a while.
