I build those cummins engines. They are pretty awesome little motors.

I love the look of that truck. I would lose the stacks behind the cab though

I would rather some some custom long pipe headers and dump the exhaust on each side behind the cab... imagine the look spooling up with black smoke pouring out the sides in front of the rear tires

there are videos of that truck on youtube. I wonder if he ever got the factory instrument panel to work. I have been looking at doing this for a while but finding a half decent motor without 1,000,000 miles or a lot of hours is really hard to do. i wish the kid had a post some where on the net logging his build. now that would be interesting

I would say this is kinda pricey any way so why not find one then rebuild it?

I have all the service manuals for the cummins engines and you can assemble one in less than 2.5 hrs

Only tricky part is the tourqe on the head bolts 3 stage with a 90 degree torque.

Setting the time is as easy as poping a pin from the rear front cover into the cam shaft then pulling it back out

Theres a guy with a Cummins powered Ranger at the little car show in Boca every saturday, you should talk to him. Although I believe it was a 6 cylinder and not a 4, and it was a prostreet truck he might have some knowledge about swapping a Cummins into a Ranger.

I may. I would consider the swap, but it seems very very expensive. Comparative to a v8.

make sure your front end will support the wieght of the motor. it probably weighs 1.5 to two times what the 4.0s weigh. its just a thought

3.9 cummins 745 pounds

I dont think a 5.9 would fit into the ranger. I think it would be to long

"an impressive 115 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque" Isn't really worth it for me. Sure its got alot of low end torque but if I were to spend that kind of money I would swap in a faster gas engine.
