Pantyhose air filter cover -- what shade to use?
Actually, it's not about the color, lol.
I was chatting with a member whose GF had an idea when he complained about his aftermarket cone filter packing up with mud and what not. She gave him and old pair of pantyhose and said to cut the foot end off and stretch it over his cone filter.
Well, he said it seems like a good idea and works a lot like the K&N filter covers they have, only dirt cheap.
So why isn't this member posting this himself? Well, he said he was sure he'd get such a ribbing about this it wasn't worth it to him.
I told him everybody already makes fun of me, so I'll post it.
There it is. Make of it what you want, lol!

outerwares makes a pre-filter and a water-repelant pre-filter for most applications. If they do not have it, simply give them your measurments and they will make it at no extra charge. Outerwares is the best way to go for a pre-filter. your ol' lady's hose is better than nothing, but if you want something thats a little better than than, go with the outerwares product.

Yup, not a new idea. I first heard about it a year ago, went right out and bought myself a pack of 5 stocking feet? Not sure but they are like socks only made out of nylon material, I think I paid about $12 at a Kroger in Arkansas. Definately a little weird standing infront of the wall of Nylons shopping and then buying, I tried to ignore the weird looks, haha. It was worth it to keep the fine Arkansas mud out of my K&N. I have since been through 2 more (1.5 years) but I still have 2 left! Can't beat that. For some added fun keep the extras in your center console and see what kind of looks you get from Buddies/Wives/girlfriends when you are looking for something and you have to pull out the nylons to find it.
