overdrive, strange tranny. hmmmm?

hey guys i have a 2003 edge. At highway speed the truck almost seems to go into top gear too fast and have a little lack of power unless i really gun it to down shift it. also almost seems as it slips a little (or like a stall speed) if i let off the gas and get back on it ( like im passing someone). its not actually slipping and the tranny seems to be operating fine and its pretty slight but i notice it. Is the auto tranny and shifting style a common complaint on these? i also read a thread about the torque converter but dont know enough of how it works to know if locking unlocking, working, or whatever. any input would be cool. thanks. oh, also would a tuner help the shifting issue? and what tuner does everyone suggest?, Thanks again.

what motor do you have in your truck and modern trans are programmed to shift into high gear as soon as possible...and yes you can adjust shift points with a tuner

If it is a 3.0 it is normal. Up in the 55mph range it will seem kinda harsh when it downshifts. Its at its limits up there.
