Older gen ranger part swap to newer gen ranger

I just came across a ranger for sale for parts, and i believe its a 97 and older truck. Haven't found out the actual year yet... It has the same engine as my truck, 4 cylinder Lima but don't know if it is a 2.3 or 2.5. What I was wondering was, can parts from that generation ranger fit on my '99? Like the rear window, engine parts, transmission, ac compressor. and would that year ranger have the A4LD transmission? Also in need of a tranny dipstick tube, would it work?

Depends on the year of the other truck. If the other truck is a single cab than the rear window won't work on your truck since it's a completely different style.

thanks! as soon as i find out the year ill post it. both trucks are single cab and the window did look smaller than mine does. only reason i wanted it on mine was because it was a slider.

looked at the truck again and the manufacture date is January of 1995. my questions are 1. what is the model year, considering the manu date. 2. how can i tell if it is a 2.3 or 2.5 engine and can parts and belt accessories interchange between the two 3. will the radio off that truck fit in my truck. it has a cassette player but looks the same size as mine and will the rear speakers work. 4. is the transmission a 4R44E or an A4LD, and if it is an A4LD, will the dipstick tube work on a 4R44E.

January of 95 means it's a 95. Manufacturing dates work as follows

August 94-June 95 = 1995
August 95-June 96 = 1996
August 96-June 97= 1997
Etc.

There are variations, but that is a rough idea of how it works.

thank you! so since it is a 95 model year then it most likely has a 4r44e?

Possibly. Honestly, the biggest difference between the 4R44E and the A4LD is the fact that the 4R44E is computer controlled. Obviously that means one won't really work in place of the other. Dipstick may work, it should bolt into the same spot on the transmission. You just have to make sure the hole is in the same spot in the transmission.

Radio *should* work, unless Ford changed the connectors between 95 and 98, which is possible.

2.5 didn't come out until 98 so other truck will be a 2.3. IIRC, they're very similar and some of the parts may swap over. You just really have to look at both trucks.
