Officially Official.....US/CA Ranger dead after 2011 model year

that would be foolish considering how well the ridgline DIDNT sell. that would be as big of a mistake on dodges part as ford not making a compact/ midsize truck anymore.

Killing the best small pick-up truck ever made is pretty ignorant at this point. If anything, Ford should just keep the production going using only the 2.3's with a complete redesign of the body so the truck doesn't look 20 years old. Besides, not every fan of pick-ups prefers a full size over a small/compact truck.
I've driven F-150's and Silverados on occasion and personally I wouldn't own one if the damn thing was given to me and got 30 mpg. I prefer small sturdy pick-ups that are easy to drive and don't wobble down the road like ice cream trucks.

no kidding, 4wd, ext cab? mine cost $27k. i just built an f-150 same options/as close to mine as i could. cost. $31,180. my monthly is $450. to get a fullsize to that monthly payment, i'd have to put $12.5k down. i can't afford that, so my monthly would be $697. and that is before my insurance bill.
stewpeed move ford. I'm down to petition haha

Have you guys seen the new diesel compact truck coming to the US from India? It's coming late 2011.
Mahindra Appalachian (or Scorpio or T20 or T40)

I can think of another thing tacos are good for....
In my OP, if you click the link you'll see the official teaser shot of the new global Ranger. And that pic you posted looks right in line with the teaser and it looks like it would be a perfect evolution of the current world ranger. BUT...I'm hoping it's more squareish like the US fullsizes.
We'll see the real shots here shortly on Oct 15thish when it'll be officially unveiled in Sydney. But for now, here's the teaser linked in the OP:
Only thing is that deals not gonna happen. They've been backing off and backing off for months now and axing franchises.

Well, I've got both a Ranger and and F150 FX4, and I'm keeping them both until I can't get parts anymore. The new thing looks like crap. I absolutely won't buy a bailout vehicle (GM or Chrysler) nor will I buy a foreign vehicle. I'll stick with Fords. Eventually, they will regain their senses and bring the Ranger back, even if they do dump it for now. I guess I wouldn't mind an F150 that could get the same mileage as a Ranger, but I seriously doubt they will get 30+ like my 2.3L 2WD Ranger does. Heck, I've only got 63,000 miles on mine, so It'll go another 200k pretty easily. I don't need or want a new one anyway.

It is sad to think to drop a vehicle out of the lineup after almost 30 years. Ford does not realize that the Ranger was so successful after all those years with the Ranger is because people actually bought them.
I had an '03 and '04 Toyota Tacoma and they were ok but in April of this year, I decided to buy a used '02 Ranger because I got tired of car payments and up to '04, Toyota did not offer an extended cab with door access although they did make four door models. I also was turned off on the Tacoma because in '05, the Tacoma model became almost as large as a full-size pickup and I very much like having a smaller pickup for many reasons: It is easier to manuver in parking lots, does not take up so much room in a garage, they are easier to clean and wax and detail, rangers do not require a college degree and a hotline number to work on, rangers look good and there are lots of examples here on how to upgrade or customize either professionally or on the cheap for us who like to do our own thing.
Ford,
I hope you realize that alot of us out here love our Rangers, some of us are brand loyal and some, like me, just found out how good a Ranger really is. I have never been a Ford fan but I do love my '02 XLT ext cab, four-door, 4.0 2wd Ranger.
Take a breath and think on how to improve the Ranger instead of killing it.

The biggest problem with this all is that FORD thinks they can dictate what we will drive, what option packages we will buy and how to mix them up.
What is FORD thinking ?
I for one will probably never buy an F-150 or larger, unless they becomes really inexpensive, say around $15K loaded (LoL) but that is the only way. I like the Ranger, I like the size of my ’03 (larger std cab) and I like everything about them, as most of us do, why can’t FORD get it through their thick heads they can’t tell us what to buy.
After the Ranger goes and my 03 dies then FORD has lost a customer… unless they smart’n up !

The all-new 2012 Ford Ranger should be coming out sometime in 2011. The new ranger will be the first big change for Ford's compact pickup in many years. The 2012 Ranger will be based on a global platform but will still be tailored to American tastes. We could possibly be seeing a turbo charged EcoBoost four banger in the 2012 Ford Ranger.
why would it be tailored to american tastes when its not supposed to be available here????????
