^^^Read post 270

My ins company hasn't given me a reasonable settlement yet. Once they write me a check, I have to pay off the loan, then buy it back. It will honestly probably be (unfortunately) about three - five weeks for the whole process.

Since you stripped everything else out, grab that airbag switch for me :D

You should also take your trailer hitch off

After I get my check. Anything I remove is deducted from the total value. I'm already getting deducted for my bumpers, running boards, and stock cd player. I can take whatever I want afterwards =]

OMG I posted the situation on RPS to get some advice from other forums and they're more or less flaming me(no pun intended) on my situation. Man, last time I post over there. Like the situation isn't bad enough, I got idiots who don't fully understand the situation throwing their two cents where it isn't wanted.

At least you guys are nice enough to offer constructive advice and ask for parts =]

Don't think that they, or Optimia, havn't seen this, or any other thread you have made.

If I had to make a guess, you had a short somewhere in the wiring that you installed. Probley looked fine when you installed it, but something wore or sliped, and wires got bare. That would be my guess, not having seen the truck.

As for the fire depatment saying the battery caused it, I don't put much in what they say. No offence to fire fighters, but you can't make a call like that just looking at it, nor can I, just make a guess.

The reason I would bet it was impounded by the insurance company, is they probley sus. arrson. I am assuming you are a young guy, they see a young guy, with a new truck, in colloge, think maybe he couldn't afford the payment out he thought he could. They probley wanted to get the truck out of your hands before you could tamper with anything, not saying that you would, just saying why they would think that.

They have bigger and better things to deal with than you and your truck that you burned(their eyes). They have people who have been injured, and killed, lots bigger things to deal with.
I guess it wouldn't have mattered if it was parked in my garage, I was driving it, or worse, my three year old son was in the truck at the time it caught fire Hey! I'm psychic too! Apparently I knew the efan controller was faulty prior to installing it. What a.....*bites lip*

Water under the bridge, lesson learned. I'll stick to R-F.

.. I just read that whole thread and I might be a bit "simple" but I'm not seeing any flamming. For them to ask if there was possibility of installer error is not flamming. Have any of those guys ever met you or modded along side you to see just how **** you might be about doing it the right way?? I also didnt see anyone straight out say it had to be you're fault, closest thing to that was the jdugan guy saying "... it doesn't look like the battery exploded". I said the same thing, from the pic it looks like the cells are intact and just the plastic is melted away. I'll be the first one to stand next to someone saying that RPS is crowded with morons and children, but I just don't see what you are all bent out of shape about from that thread.

dude that sucks. i can't believe they did that.

typical insurance company. When You called them did they say in an angry voice "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU WANT TO FILE A CLAIM ?"

I hate insurance. The goverment forces you to have it and you pay thousands and thousands of dallors in, ten times more then you personally will ever get back from them and they they impound your car after it catches fire.

Now you are paying a car payment on something you can't drive until the insurance compnany gets their head out of their @ss. Personally i would cancel my insurance with that company when its over.

I don't need anyone telling me about user errors. I'd be the first one to say "F*ck, I forgot about that wire". It's just his persistent arrogance. He acted like an insurance adjuster drilling me.

I'm on the edge right now and don't need to hear that kind of b/s.

It just pisses me off. Seriously, look at my truck(before this, lol). Does anything look half-assed? The worst looking thing about my truck was the front bumper, which was used and about to get a make-over. These guys don't know the entire story, much less anything about my truck.

I already told them that if they don't take care of me like I should be taken care of, they're not covering my next vehicle.

yeah I sure wouldn't use them again.

Why don't you take the optertunity to say the name of the company so we all know to not use them.

ESURANCE

as in

ESURANCE.COM

Do a google on "esurance complaints problems"

Besides premium hiking a couple days later and automatically charging your credit card without yor consent or notification of the rate change, I am not the first person to experience this "total loss of vehicle and esurance not caring thing".

I'm looking for the link, but there is a woman on a scam complaint forum. She posted about two weeks ago. Her Suburban was totalled and it's sitting in her driveway two months later. She is still making payments and paying insurance to satisfy the loan company. All b/c Esurance is dragging their feet giving the woman a run around.

I am getting aggrevated and pushing this a little bit because I don't want that to be me. I'm trying to avoid that kind of situation. Not b/c I torched my truck and wanted a new one, b/c I'm some college kid who can't afford payments.

Please! I have my own business and do quite well financially. If it weren't for accrued savings(for use in emergencies), I wouldn't be able to take off work to deal with this sh*t. Thank God I'm not some broke college kid, I'd be in a much worse situation.
