Best back up homeslice.

EDIT: of course pending l2en gets the truck back.

She's just an 03 fx4, not a levelII. I wanted the LII when I bought it but didn't wanna wait two months for it.

The aluminum driveshaft is still blingin' lol

a) whats the diff between a red and yellow top optima?
b) whats so special about them xcept they dont leak and u can mount them like upside down...
c) is it reallly worth the 2-3x cost?
A) Red Top's are starting batteries, and Yellow tops are deep Cycle. Starting means that they are designed to send large amount of power for initial cranking. Deep Cycle means the battery was designed to be Constantly drained until dead and has the ability to repeat this many many times. Starting batteries can't handle that abuse.

B) Optimas are built with a spiral cell that is extremely resistant to Vibration ( which is the #2 killer of batteries) and is why they are very popular amongst Off Roaders, Large Sound systems and race cars. the Cells are filled with Glass-mat which keeps them from spilling acid. They use 99.99% lead. And are extremely resistant to Heat( #1 battery assassin)

C) Yes, def worth the extra cost. The Warranty Alone is worth the extra cost, but most SLI batteries average about 3-5 year under normal conditions and Optimas Average 5-7 years even under extreme conditions. So the length of run time and cost even out the cost of one optima to two regular batteries. Then factor in the Warranty and reliablility

As bad as this situation is, you have to understand ALL car batteries have a chance of doing this if there is a defect or some surge that caused this. Also anything mass produced comes with the probablility that 1 in so many will be defected.

The Guys that are saying "oh I was thinking about getting an Optima but not now, I'm going with something else" are basically saying: " Oh I was thinking about hanging out with Dracula cuz everyone says he throws the best parties, but then he ended up biting someone I know, so now I'm gonna hang out with Frankenstein or Werwolf." If you wanna protect yourself from this build a solid steal battery box or something similar to contain the possible problem or relocate the battery to the bed where there aren't so many delicate pieces

very interesting analasys(sp)... but true... i sold optimas for a while at my old shop, and i had one customer come back becuase there was a problem with the battery but i am sold on them.... i have a smaller size optima and i love it, it sat in my garage on the concret( wost thing possible) for over a year, threw a trickle charger( only way to charge optimas properly) and it holds a charge like its a brand new battery.... its unfortunate as to what happened to your truck andy but i still back up there batteries 100%.....

we'll see how it goes.. and what i have on my truck whn it comes time for a new battery.. im hoping to soon have 2 100watt offroad lights, and somehwere down the line a 8-9k winch, then eventually whn i get a new car, this will b my trail truck,

so an optima may not b a bad idea

Okay, lol.

The bumper wasn't too bad. It was the brackets that were a pita. If I get a LII, I'll have to make one for a styleside and sell that one. Ugh it was on my truck for four days before this happened. I have my lighted plate holder at my house for it from summit =[. I just want another truck so bad and be done with this entire situation. I want it now!

Hoping for black, sonic blue would work. Bright island blue would be sweet. Trying to saty away from red or white primarily. The LII I'm looking at is white though =\. The new truck is getting rhino rockers like this one, but I'm gonna have line-x do it =] I just don't dig the red and black. White and black might not be too bad. Just not a fan of white trucks, it'll be white with a brownish tint in due time after I get my hands on it.

Not too concerned with colors, that's something I'm pretty flexible about. If I can get a 2002 FX4, 2003 FX4, or a 2003 LII, I'll be happy reguardless of color.

If I opt for a new 06 or 07 then I'll be a little more picky =]

The electronic shift motor can be troublesome, if that's what you mean. One of my many reasons to get dual shifters =]

It's mechanically linked to the transfer case, if I'm not mistaken.
