Do whatever you like to your truck. Up or down. Just lose the STX bumper. It looks like Ford stole the bumper off a civic.

i was thinking the same thing. my 96 was an STX. it was a fully loaded 4x4 with the fancy STX decails and such. not like i have anything against the new ones, but i just miss the "highrider" STX ranger from the 80's.

that being said i'll cruise around in the dirt with 2wd but never think for a second i have 4wd...

also lower the stx
i tihnk that is a lot of the people who have a lifted 2wd truck's problem, they think because they have the tires, they have a 4wd... but that being said, a lot of the people with 4wd, think that because it's 4wd, it's like a tank (me included) which has gotten me into trouble in the past, both with this truck (see my SNOWNED thread)

For me I dont need a 4wd. I just needed something a little taller since I dont like having to bend down to get in a truck and a little better tire. On the farm I go sometimes into so sketchy areas and my old street tires were no good. Also, our farm in Kentucky gets really bad cause its a mud path up a hill.
nah, i didn't think that you were trying to argue. the only truck that i have seen (ranger) that comes with an actual off road tire is the level II's i really don't think the FX4 off road rangers come with tires suitable for decent off road use...

while your opinion is your opinion, why would someone buy the STX, just to take the STX bumper off?

ill never be able to grasp why they only put the bumper on. either A it needs matching body pieces to look complete, or B it needs to be a bit on the milder side.

i say lift it. go sky high with that b!tch!

the red one is cool. mall crawler or not. who gives a ****.

.
not trying to stir up a debate, but my 2001 4X4 OFFROAD xlt came with street tires from the factory does that mean i should drive it in the dirt and mud? thats dumb logic IMO. im not all about 2wd trucks, but i dont think that becuase they are 2wd that they shouldnt be able to play offroad. a locked 2wd with a good set of tires are surprisingly capable offroad.

Why don't you mod it according to how you plan to use it?
Why lift it if you're not going to wheel it? I personally don't get the lifted 2wd thing, unless it is a long travel kit or just a mild lift for looks. The 2wds on 35s and whatnot just don't make sense to me. If you're cruising around in the desert or something, a lifted 2wd with a locker would be pretty capable. But muddy trails, snow, etc, I don't think so.
So I say just lower the thing if you have to do something with it.
