manual 4x4 hub ?

i got a question about 4x4 with manual locking hubs.

obviously you need to turn hub *** for 4x4 to work, and then when inside truck, push the 4x4 botton.

is it ok to drive with 4x4 off and leave the hubs on or not?

also, is it ok to be driving and then turn 4x4 botton on while driving at 45 mph or should you be stopped before pushing button?

My 94 you could press the button into 4x4 on the fly. I didn't have manual hubs.

yes you can leave the hubs locked in and drive with them locked with the t-case in 2wd, it is fine and you wont notice anything different unless some of the bearings or u-joints in the front end are worn out. and yes you can shift into 4x4 HI on the fly if you want to, but so far I havent found a need to...

perfectly OK it will turn the drive line but it will not be powered. My explorer was locked all the time, it effected gas mileage very little, I got about 19 with it.
