Making XL Cab More Quiet?

Guess I've gotten spoiled with my car being some what quiet, and my old '93 Dual Plugs was quiet (Maybe cuz it was XLT?)

I am thinking of adding something under the floor to make it a bit quiet, and wasn't sure if anyone has done anything like adding carpet pad or something to make the truck a bit more quiet.

check your local Lowes or audio store for some sound deadening material... I suggest the floor and roof, when it rains I can hear the rain pretty well...

i guess its possible that the xl has less interior carpet padding than the xlt. I am assuming you mean ur old truck had two spark plugs/cylinder... thats not gonna make it any quieter other than the fact that it was prolly a 4cyl. get some dynomat or the equivalent. i don't think its real cheap but it'll work.

It was a quiet engine for a 4cyl. I had people asked me if I was sure it was a 4cyl, and I'd open the hood and showed them it was a 4cyl.

I put Dynamat on my floor, back wall, and on all the doors. Its amazing how quiet that made the truck. i would like to do the roof at some point too.

08XLT, I am thinking of doing what you've done... Floor, back wall, and door. How much did you cover?

I covered all the interior metal for the entire floor, back wall and doors. Its about a 2 day project cause you got to tear about the interior completely to do it. Its so worth it though.

Did you pull the seats?

I've never torn anything apart that far if that is the case.

Seats are EEEAAASSSYYY to pull. 4-19mm bolts and unplug the seat belt sensor pig tail and they come right out.

On suggestion is to undo the front 2 bolts, then slide the seat all the way forward and do the rears. When you put them back in one rail will be forward and the other will be back. Just set the rail thats all the way back down and then push the whole seat and everything back. Or just come up to minneapolis and Ill do it for ya.

Google B-Quiet. its a sound deadinig material that is much cheaper than Dyna mat. by XL im assuming you have vinyl floors in a reg cab. get about 8 square feet of the b quiet pull the seats(super easy) remove the plastic strips by the doors and the back plastic panel. lay the b quiet on the whole floor, up as far as you can get by the pedals, and the back wall, put everything back together.....Sounds Like a Benz

Look into second skin audio. I bought a lot of material from them to use in my truck they are a little bit cheaper then some other companies like dynomat.
