Leave It Straight Pipe or Not?

Had a straight pipe put on my truck Friday. I put a 2.5" pipe put on from the last cat all the way out the back. I am debating putting on a Magnaflow/Flo-Pro muffler that is SI/SO and keep the piping the way it is. Or put a Magnaflow/Flo-Pro muffler that is SI/DO. Would there be any difference in the sound between a SI/SI or SI/DO?

Here is the raspy sound it makes now lol. At high RPMs it sounds like straight rice, so I have to get rid of that.

HAHA, decided you didnt like the straight pipe? What did you think of the drone on the highway?

Well at least not just one straight pipe lol. But there is hardly any drone, actually less than my previous set up. Of course my previous set up was like a lightning truck with the muffler right under the cab, so drone was to be expected.

But I'm thinking a muffler will bring back that richer tone maybe and some lowness to the exhaust note.

You are probably right. If I had to do it over again I would get a Borla or Magnaflow. I think either of those would sound good.

Yeah dude, I had a super 44 for a while. I really liked it.
I might get another one later on when I get tired of the super 10.

Im not sure what other muffler compares to the super 44.

Hmm now ya'll got me thinking again. Cause I've got my old Magnaflow sitting around my house, but with the positive comments about the super 44, I wonder if I should go with it now.

Taylor, did you have the muffler mounted in stock position and the pipes going out the back?

Yep. Single in, dual out in the stock position with the two tips out the back.

screw mufflers I'm pretty much running open headers on my 4.0 jeep. louder than **** outside, and inside. I have people compliment me on it all the time, some ask if I swapped in a v8 when I had a 3.0 ranger it sounded like complete **** when I had it straight piped. I got sick of sounding like a ricer and threw on a stock muffler. straight pipes sound better without the cat's, but I wont say anything else because I'll probably get stoned to my death by some environmentalists.

Well today, I went back to the muffler shop and had the old magnaflow put on with pipes coming out the back in a 45 degree angle under the bumper.

With 2.5" all the way back and the magnaflow on, the truck now has a good low tone to it, along with a nasty growl under hard acceleration. I am pleased for now lol.
