Leaking coolant around valve cover gasket

2002 ford ranger. Just started leaking coolant around the gasket. My question is has anybody tried that blue devil head or radiator sealer? Really can’t afford to be done professionally. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Just bought this a month ago.

Looks like the water pump?

Why do you think valve cover?

You can get the GM Tablets which do the same thing and are less likely to clog radiator and heater cores

Parts stores have them: https://www.acdelco.com/auto-parts/v...seal-tabs.html

There is no "fix" besides replacing the gasket or part that is leaking

Cooling system runs at 14psi pressure when engine is warmed up so nothing added to coolant can seal it very long
The additives are air sensitive so when they are pushed out of a leak point they swell up and temporarily block the leak, but will be pushed out eventually so leak starts again until more of the additive reaches the leak point.

Wasn’t sure what it is. Someone suggested that then suggested that blue devil stuff. So you think water pump. Other than the temp gauge being a lil slow to level off. It doesn’t over heat either.

Coolant leak won't cause over heating until coolant gets too low in engine/radiator

What engine do you have?

Looks like a 3.0l

They had fittings just above water pump that could rust out and leak

You have a 4.0l SOHC engine, used in 2001 to 2011 Rangers, 1990-2000 Rangers used a different 4.0l engine, just FYI

You could look closer at heater hose near that area, they can get pin holes and spray coolant out when system gets pressure built up

Leaking coolant

The funny part is if I leave the vent **** open in the truck it don’t leak. If I close it to the off position it leaks. Upper radiator hose is hard as a rock and very hot. Lower hose is Luke warm. Dam rangers. I love em though.
