Sounds like quite a vehicle! Good to have family help like that. Post pics when you can!

Is it 4x4?

Never mind this dark-side crap, lol -- a trucks a truck and each has strengths/weaknesses just like our Rangers do.

most of the time people type 4x4 when it is. don't when it's not.

haha.

i am gonna guess 2wd. not going to offroad this one, are you?

glad to read your family is helping you out. real nice of your uncle to give you such a deal. sounds like a good truck. those 5.3l's can sound really nice with a decent exhaust system.

i have a friend with corsa exhaust on his. man, it sounds like a vette.

GLad to hear you got yourself a new truck. I thought all Z71s were 4x4? What IS Z71 then? Thought it was like the Off-Road package for Chevy?

Z71 is not the same as an fx4 package. I have NEVER seen a 4x4 chevy that was NOT a z71. My theory, Z71 is supposed to be some badass chevy off-road package, but it only means its 4 wheel drive.

Wheres a picture of a ranger peeing on a chevy emblem? anyone?

yes i understand i can roll it at the track but if there were stats on truck rollovers that occured durring non street driving 90% would be offroad and about 10% would be on the track.

Actually it is. Z71 used to be the option code for the off-road package. I believe it included different shocks, skid plates, heavy duty air cleaner and some other stuff. I believe in 2005 they turned the package into its own model even though its pretty much the same thing. So yes you can get one without the package.

Edit: I found the package-

Suspension
Z71 Off-Road (1500 4x4 models) includes 46mm shock absorbers, off-road jounce bumpers and stabilizer bars, Skid Plate Package, high-capacity air cleaner and Z71 decals
