well with all the rocks and such out, my truck is back to normal, it rides great with no odd noises like the "squeeling pig". The bearing dont seem to be making any kind of noises, but i guess i should do them anyways... another day, now i have to go finish the interior

I'm guessing your Ranger is 4x2?

98+ Ranger 4x4s use unit hub bearing assemblies; non-serviceable.

Correct. But his is also I believe, so it was relevant.

Since almost EVERYONE I go wheeling with is 4WD, I'm well aware of the unit-bearings in the 4x4 hubs, lol -- but thanks for rubbing it in further...

Im not realy sure how to pack the bearings, i took the caliper and pads off to clean, but there is another part of steel that holds the caliper in place. I didn't know how to take it off and i only saw one bolt. I need to remove it before the rotor comes off

There are two bolts that hold the caliper bracket in place. Make sure to torque them back down properly when you are done. There are 2 bolts that hold the caliper on, and two bracket bolts to take the bracket off. One is behind the spindle in the middle and is hard to see -- but it's there. The other one is down low and easy to get to.

the pictures look gross, I don't usually even let my truck get dirty before its time for another coat of armor all. The mug on the underside looks like its caked on thick, atleast you got out.

lol! No harm, no foul! You haven't been around that long, so you didn't know. I'm eventually doing a SAS, adding a 4x4 tranny (shorter tailshaft) and transfer case etc. I'm keeping this truck "forever" and just building it as I go along.

Short history: bought the truck with no thought of offroading, met some guys online, got talked into going with my stock 4x2 and then got hooked. Now I've done a lift, FX4 axle with locker and 4.56 gears, 35's etc. -- it just keeps on building.

I've done so much work to this truck, and enjoy it SO much, that I'm just keeping it and I'll mod it as required. Thinking of starting all over again with 4x4 just makes me tired...

Thanks for the comment though!
