I almost died today!
I was heading southbound on Route 128 in Woburn (Massachusetts) when I heard a loud "bang" which I later discovered was an exploded tire. I slammed into the guardrail and got spun around counter-clockwise and stopped facing oncoming traffic. No other vehicles were involved, however I had been traveling alongside a Malden Police cruiser. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a Police Officer have a legal duty to stop and render assistance (even outside of their jurisdiction... kinda like a First Responder)??
Anyways. I walked away more or less unscathed. All I got was a couple of friction burns on my arms from the airbag deploying, and scratch/scrape or two. Nothing really serious. The most important thing is that I was able to get out and walk away. [Thank God] I made sure my truck wasn't on fire, grabbed some stuff and jumped into the median to not get hit. I called the Police. EMTs showed up and checked me over. I then went to work (I thought it would get my mind off it, and I figured I would need the money real soon). Also: I've never seen (especially firsthand) a airbag after it's been deployed. All I know is the moment the accident occurred, all my emotions and thoughts flew out the window... I just re-acted... I can only describe it as a robotic reaction. I just did what had to be done to preserve my life without thinking.
The tow guy said my truck was a "Total Loss" and will be "sleeping with the fishes." My insurance company is calling tomorrow and hopefully I can get a new car soon. I'm probably going to go with a small car (not truck or SUV) due to the gas prices. They may be falling, but will go back up.
And now for the pictures...
Tell me what you think *(and if you got an answer to the cop question above)
PS- Woburn Firefighters/Paramedics freaking rock, if there are any on this forum, thanks guys... you were really cool today. Made me feel a little better.
I thank God for saving my life today!

Everyone bashes Fords... score one for "Fix or Repair Daily"! Glad I walked away on my own too feet... My friend/co-worker was telling me that Fords have something built into the frame near the front that Chevys don't that makes the a little better in a crash. Either way, I'm def glad it did the job.

Ouch man, I'm glad you're ok. Sorry bout the truck thou, make sure to bury it well my friend.
And about the officer thing, my bud is an officer and he said technically the duty of a police officer is to uphold the "laws of the land" and not protect the personal safety of its inhabitants. Maybe that's why they let him carry a loaded weapon...
Anyway, sorry you got shafted by the PD...

Happy to hear you survived !! I totaled out a Honda Del Sol, top off, no seatbelt. Dont know how I survived but I also feel like something or someone was watching over me that day........I'd think twice about going with the car. You may feel nuetered w/o a pickup truck. Relying on other peoples pickup trucks sucks!

I loved having the truck, however I rarely use it for actual "truck things", sometimes however. So in that aspect it could suck. However I drive 320 miles a week for work, and my girlfriend lives 90 miles away too... so I do alot of driving, therefore I kinda want something cheaper on gas, lol

I think the most important thing that I did was use my seatbelt!! Hell yea for that... I have a couple of friends who always made fun of me for that, but who's laughing now.
Also, for once I had both hands on the wheel (10 and 2). Usually I use one hand a 6, but for some reason, had both.
Built Ford Tough **** yea.

I found a bunch of different cars.
Mostly: Chevy Aveo, Malibu, Cobalts, and a couple Saturns
and I def need A/C... I can't stand the heat, haha
I even leave the blower on cold in the winter.
