How Much Should I Sell My Ranger For?
Hey guys,
I'm sadly selling my Ranger and can't decide how much to ask for it. It's a regular cab '93 XLT 2.3 L 4cyl 2WD with, probably, 230k miles on it. I say "probably" because when I bought it at a tow yard they said it only had 93k on it due to the fact that there's only 5 numerals on the odometer so there's no way of knowing whether it has 130k, 230k, or 330k on it. It has a toolbox and lumber-rack, and I think (let me know what you think) I'm going to throw in my WeatherGuard "pack-rat" storage system in with it. Figured I might as well, but it takes up quite a bit of bed space. It blue books anywhere between 1,300 and 2,800 with "fair purchase price" being 2k and "typical listing price" being 2.5k. It needs new tires and brakes and the interior is a little beat up. Driver's side seat has a tear in it and the steering column shroud was broken off when some folks from the halfway house down the way tried to steal it (drilled the s#$t out of the lock cylinder too). All in all it's a great truck though. I'm actually quite sad to be getting rid of it. The only reason I am is because my ex gave me her 97 grand cherokee before she moved back home because it was having mechanical problems and was just going to send it to the scrap yard. So now I have 3 vehicles in a neighborhood with very limited parking where the neighbors have called the city on it several times to try and have it towed. I live in Santa Rosa CA that had that major fire a little over a year ago so there's a TON of construction going on, and this is a great little work truck so there should be plenty of demand. What do you guys think?
Thanks
BTW, sorry the images are so large. I'm not particularly tech-savvy so don't know how to resize them.

Pickup truck pricing is area specific
A Ranger in New York might be worth more or less in Dallas, or LA or Seattle, ect..........
So best bet is to look in your local Craigslist or Truck Trader to see what the competition is for similar Rangers AND other smaller pickups
And what you see are ASKING Prices, not what they are worth, the buyer sets what its worth when you agree to sell it to him/her
I see there is a 1993 extended cab 4x4 V6 Ranger with similar miles in Santa Rosa, asking $2,500
So your asking price should be maybe $1,900 and take $1,500
The rack, tool box and bed drawer should be removed and sold separately, they are not worth anything to most buyers so they won't want to pay extra for them
Now if you get a buyer you can have these near by and have a price in mind for each one, and they may want one or two of these and you can use that as part of the negotiation
Your buyer will be looking for MPG so mention 4cyl engine, regular cab, manual trans and 2WD and if you know current MPG(highway, lol), in the ad
As you said this is a work truck, and looks are secondary, your main selling points are small truck, small engine, good MPG
You can mention Rack, tool box and bed drawer in the ad and include pictures of them but have them OFF the truck and take pictures of the truck without these on it
This does two things it shows the truck as it is for best MPG and PERFORMANCE(lighter for test drive), and you may get calls to buy just the rack, tool box or drawer from same ad
Your over the cab rack, tool box and bed drawer will fit 1993 to 2012 Rangers, regular or extended cab doesn't matter they have the same bed, so good market for those separately
