"HELP" 86 ford ranger, hard starting when hot
I have a 1986 Ford Ranger 2.9 liter, 4 wheel drive (550000 miles) which I just purchased from someone-so I don't know the history of the vehicle. It has a hard time starting after it gets hot, such as driving to the store, shut it off ,run in, come out and it won't start. cranks over fine but I found that if I put the gas pedal to the floor it will start for me. (seems like its flooded) the engine will not hold an idle when cold, first starting in morning-wants to stall, once it warms up its fine. plus very bad gas mileage. I've done a recent tune-up,plugs,wires,cap,rotor.
If any ford experts could send some idea's my way as to what could be causing this problem, I would greatly apprecite it.
thanks,
Phil.
