got my truck smashed up
who would have thought that stopping at a crosswalk in front of Walmart to let someone cross would result in your truck being smashed. Some idiot was flying through the lot, swerved into my lane, hit the front of my truck, drove down the side of it, backed up and sped away.

about 6 people saw the guy speed away but nobody could tell the license plate cause it was covered with salt. I debated for a split second to chase him down or stop and call the cops. The cops "say" they will try and look for the car, but who knows. My aunt works at Walmart and is gonna have security check the tapes. We were right outside plus he drove around the side and back of Walmart.

if a group of people saw this idiot driving the way he was, i'm sure a lot of people will be helping rangerb and the cops find this guy.

I'm not being negative. I'm being realistic. I have 200+ cameras at my fingertips where I am sitting right now and another 100+ in my other office. Inside, outside, underground, above ground, in the sky, in the road, parking lots, parking garages, parking spaces, driveways, highways, walkways, and hallways. I'm intimately familiar with the police and corperate aspects of video monitoring and how it effects various incidents. I've solved cases and I've had to write cases off as insufficient. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.
If a group of people including the driver of the damaged vehicle saw this, then the cameras are not going to tell the police anything they didn't already know. In fact, the aformentioned people will do a much better job at providing useful information than the cameras will. They already know where the vehicle was damaged and how bad, what the color was, and probably a good idea on the make/model. The cameras will tell them the same, or most likely even less.
Unless there was a camera at the parking lot exits specificly designed to capture the license plates of exiting vehicles, the video system is going to give you nothing of any use. I'm not trying to burst your bubble. But I don't want you to get your hopes up on what is going to amount to nothing.
In my experience, he was probably not drunk. More likely operating unlicensed or under suspension and uninsured in an unregistered motor vehicle.

i have a feeling i will be sol, cameras probably won't get the plate #... after he backed up to get unstuck from the side of my truck i thought he was gonna pull over and stop. as soon as he saw me backing up towards him he took off. I know the make/model/color/ of the car. I'm kicking myself now for not chasing after him. I was hesitant to chasevbecause the car was all tinted and i didn't know how many people might have been in there...plus it was the one day i decided not to have my .45 with me
