No, not really. His alternator was the least of the problems. He should have been cuffed and dragged into lock-up for the night until someone could bail his sorry behind out. Then he could do us all a huge favor and walk to work for 6 months. He wouldn't even need an alternator!

i have cut people out of cars that were hit by drunk drivers......and after being hit by one myself, i am a firm believer that they should be jailed!

i never said what he did was right or wrong... he is mad that is alt. went bad. you didnt have to attack him personally. So stop flaiming him.

I am with the both of you with drunk driving. When one of my friends trys to drive home drunk after a party, i usally drive them home (i drive so i do not drink)

He came on here in his own post and admitted to dui and "having stuff in the truck" which I can probably guess is also something illegal. If he doesn't want it to be a topic of discussion, he shouldn't have said it. He opened his mouth, it is fair game.

Consider this a very obvious sign from God as your last chance to quit being stupid before something bad happens. Think about the scenario;

You both would have been arrested
you would have been charged with
DUI
PCS - posession of a controlled substance (hopefully not with intent to distribute)
among other things.

Those two alone would have cost well over $1000 after bail, court fines, and possible attorney fees. Then you would have to pay probation costs every week or month, and pay for a drug and alcohol screening, along with submitting yourself to a likely drug and alcohol awareness program.

Your girlfriend would have been charged with drinking underage (I assume) and other things possibly. I'm sure you could have re-kindled your relationship in the drunk-tank, though.

Was the party worth an estimated $4000 in fines and fees? Be lucky you're only replacing an alternator, and not a leg. Or worse yet, someone else's leg.

Of course I have no room to be talking about drinking or other illegal activities/substances, but I'm a little (read: lot) smarter when it comes to carrying it, transporting it, or being under the influence of it.

Geeze, I agree that drinking and driving is wrong, hell im sure we all know that by common sense. But that isnt in the title of this thread, if he wanted an opinion/advice/lecture about that i'm sure he would ask. Anybody else agree that this probably needs to get back on topic before it turns for the worse?

Anyways, yeah sucks that your alt is probably toast, get a shield when you get a new alt, like mentioned above..

if he didn't want a lecture about what he did wrong then maybe he should have not stated that he was drunk while driving, carrying the alchol in the truck, and that he had been at a party. i guess he should have kept his keys from typing that he was drunk and just complained about the alternator...

just look at the bike thing this way......1 you can get exercise, 2 you save gas, and 3 if you decide to drink and ride, you can't get a DUI! lol!

You seem to not know what a DWI does.

3 days in jail, when sentenced. Here there's conveniently a State Penitentary they throw you in.

Also, as to walking to work. For a DWI you ususally lose your license between 3-6 months but even before your hearing you can send in the paperwork to get a "to work license" reinstated.

All in all, your first DWI costs between 3-6 thousand.

If anyone is interested, your 4th DWI costs between 100 and 150 thousand dollars

I pm'd the **** to delete the drunk driving part, cause it'd be an issue. He idnt care. I never drunk drive, the fines are SOO Terrible it's not worth it, at all.

Yes you can get a DUI/DWI on ANYTHING WITH WHEELS!!!!

Seriously, watch out. a bike is fair game. A ****in skateboard is fairgame. I'm not joking, they severely reinforced that you should be only on your feet. For a bike/skateboard its really going to come down to the cop.

Also, if you need to sleep off alcohol in your car, i recommend you give someone your keys. You will get a DWI if you're in your car with your keys, sleeping.
