As for the guy who said they came on 4x4 OFF-ROAD (if you guys got the OFF-ROAD part) that is correct. I'm not sure what other years had them but the 98-00 had them and then the FX4 Level II's. My 99 4x4 didn't have any skid plates but my 98 4x4 (NOT OFF-ROAD) has the t-case skid and the gas tank skid but no front skid. Just another one of those Ford hit and miss things I guess....

The only off roading I get to do is around the farm through the fields and back wood trails lol so nothing like you guys probably do. I'm just looking for something that looks good and covers up the front end underneath. If I can find a factory one that would be fine But I'm going to look into making one or having one made.

hmmm maybe i should add one of these on my truck.. i can get oodles of aluminum diamond plate and have it bent and everything for free as my dad builds these so getting material isnt a problem. and Kingfisher boats too.

the only skid really worth a damn is the gas skid.. and that's cause its pretty hard to actually hit.
the t-case skid on mine has taken a beating but its pretty tweaked now, along with the tranny cross member heh. Now i gotta build something to protect the t-case and tranny cross member before i rip it off.
I would say build some if you want them to take any abuse, but if you just want it for show then find a blingy stainless front one.
