I don't like it because you always have to tap the brake or turn it off to go off cruise
I prefer to coast down off cruise and in the Ranger you can not unless you turn it off completely

I heard about this on ORR or something. People were saying that the Ranger was not effected, just the F150 and new Explorers.
Unfortunately I'd rather leave the truck out-doors than have the recall 'serviced'. Sounds like they just disable your cruise control until they have a solution. Personally I'd leave the truck outside w/ the cruise enabled until they have a replacement..

Is this it? (where the arrow is pointing)

Yeah i heard about this fire thing here. We lost a couple of ours (fords) in the last few weeks and our local news station has done a report or two on it....thank god i dont have cruise or the switch. I love my truck and if it caught fire id be PISSED. Only thing i can add is that the local ford owners here that have lost their trucks have contacted ford to claim their fires and lost trucks have not been contacted back. So take this s*** seriously and get to the STEALERSHIP and get your trucks fixed. Cuz ford and calling any of the locals here back.

..I haven't been notified officially about this. At this point I'm tempted to push my luck and ignore it until I hear a new switch is available. I love my cruise. Cruise and 4WD were the two things my new truck HAD to have!

I think that the potential for this problem is very low on any particular vehicle and I will continue to drive mine with the cruise operational. But, if I had a truck like the 2002s (and others) with the Deactivation Switch circuit hot all the time, I would not park it in the garage or near the house.

The important difference is in how they're fed. I don't have Wiring Manuals for all years but there is a significant difference between 02 and 03/04. The 02 is fed by an "always hot" fuse and the 03/04 is fed by a "hot with the ignition on" fuse.
So, with the 03~04, you still have the possibility that the switch will become contaminated and cause an internal leak to ground and overheat BUT that possibility should go away with the ignition switch off.
