Is Fan Shroud Necessary
Hello everyone,,
I replaced the radiator in my 6 cyl 97 ranger. The radiator that I got from my local Advance store has a single thickness of tubes so the tank on the filler neck side is a lot wider than the other side, so when I place the shroud in it is setting cockeyed also there snaptube.cam/ syncnet.onl/telegram-web/ https://9apps.cam/ is a large gap between the shroud and the top of the tubes.
So do I really need to replace the shroud. Thanks.

In general you need a shroud for proper cooling, but sometimes you can get by without it. A shroud keeps the air pulling through the radiator by the fan. Without the shroud, some air will just recycle around the fan and some air pulling through the radiator. It is mostly needed at idle or slow speeds. I don't have a shroud or a even a fan on my race car because it is moving fast most of the time when the engine it running, and air flows through the radiator very well. It will overheat if I let it idle too long or drive very slow too long.
