saw that...scary the sorts that are out there on the road with us. I was unlucky enough to watch a 6-car chain reaction wreck on the highway once. The lead vehicle was a pickup with some boxes in the back. They all went racing by me at around 85-90mph (speed limit was 55mph then and on this stretch) and they were all basically bumper-to-bumper. One of the boxes flew out of the pickup and the next thing I saw was several cars slamming into each other and one of the cars swerved to avoid the others and just flipped like a kite cart-wheeling and flipping end-over-end (4 or 5 times). Amazingly enough the guy got out of the car in one piece. Dunno what happened later and was never called as a witness. But there are just people who are too stoopid to live out there...usually it's someone else they take out and not themselves.

Until you see it happen in real life you just might not get how dangereous driving really can be if you are not careful and/or unlucky.

But that kid is just more proof stoopid peepholes shouldn't breed.

it is supposed to burn off the carbon deposits i believe. it is supposed to smoke, but you are only supposed to use about 1/4 of the can thru the vaccum lines i believe. ive poured it in my gas before, and i couldnt tell any difference haha. we ran a full bottle of seafoam, octane booster, and a lil bit of race gas in a go kart motor once just to see what it would do haha smelled wonderful :X haha

 

Wow... I have never seen a reaction to Seafoam like that, not even in the crappiest vehicle I've worked on.

 

So how do you use the sea foam? I have heard that engine must be hot and running?

 

Good question. I know I tend to pore like a bottle in my tank about every 10k miles just because my dad told me the stuff is a good cleaner for the engine.

Is that going to be good enough to burn off carbon and stuff?

 

i have used it and i love it so i used it on my dads exploder and it looked like it was about to, my moms camery and my friends nissan truck.

also half can in my tank to.
u suck half into your brake line booster and let it sit for like 5 mins then start it up and watch the awesome smoke!!!!

How often and at how many miles should this be done? I have 60K on mine now, Is it true you need to change the plugs after?

 

You can use it in your gas tank, engine, or crankcase. Each way cleans out something different. In the video they used it to clean out the carbon deposits in the engine. This can be done on most vehicles by pulling the vaccuum hose off of the brake booster, and pouring the Seafoam down the tube in little bursts. It says to use about 1/3 of the can, while the engine is hot and running. You shut off the engine after you're done pouring in the 1/3 of the fluid, and after about 15 minutes, restart the engine and let it idle for a while.

 

I'm not sure if you should change the plugs after, I think that depends on the severity of the carbon buildup. However with 60K on your truck, I would change the plugs anyhow.

Cool. I just got new Ignition Wires and gonna be buying plugs before I install them so I'll do this as well. Get the ol' 4.0 as clean as possible now that it's over 100k.

what are the concsrns making you not want to use it? Not being critical just asking. Those videos are to show how funny it is to use the stuff...and how some people just do not need to even own a vehicle beyond a bicycle.

I was gonna do my Tx today but things got in the way and tomorrow gotta take the soldering iron to my laptop and replace the DC jack then spend the rest of the afternoon putting the thing back together hoping it will fix the problem. So, I get to Seafoam on Thursday...it's FUN and the first time treating this truck with it. I have helped a buddy do his car a few times.

Does it help? Who really knows, but I really don't see how it can hurt if it's done correctly, as with any service or repair, from air pressure in tires to a tranny rebuild, ya just gotta do it correctly.
