The thing about warn is most of their winches use series wound motors. Their line speed is fast in no_load.. but under the rated load it is no faster or even slower than comparible milemarker or ramsey winches...
Also Perm. magnet motors tend to draw much less current 300~~330Amps under rated load vs 450+ amps for warn.
On the other hand... perm. magnet motors are said to heat up faster than a series wound one... Not sure about this.. how could a motor that draws 2/3 the current heat up less? John? anyone?

I am seriously looking hard at that harbor freight winch... 300.. local pickup and I could get a 2 year no questions asked replacement plan on it for 20$.
In the end I will probably end up NOT ebaying for a winch.. I'd like a good warrenty and
I can get the same prices on new winches elsewhere.

Warn is definitely a good winch... but they burn up as much as any other winch can/does. If you are happy with yours that is all that matters right?

Then again you could get this winch for 549$

I just like that harbor frieght one at 381$ inc.. tax replacement warrenty and roller fairlead....

I guess it just means how much money do i have to spend on this.. i think ill go cash in my penny bucket ( gotta be 150-200$ in there)
