Carburated V8 Swap

Carburated V8 Swap
Hi - I just joined the forum and have a few questions.
I have a 1999, two wheel drive Ranger. This was a TX truck, so there is no rust, just faded paint. The motor is blown. I have see several threads on swapping a V8 from an Explorer. I'm old school - can I swap in a carburated 302 crate motor into this truck? I would like to avoid all the computer and sensor issues if possible.
Are there any swap kits available? Can you point me to a possible thread. What about emissions issues. Any help/direction would be appreciated. Thanks
Andy

Welcome to the forum
No, there are no swap kits for this
Emissions is a local(to you) issue, some places require ANY engine swap to be with a same year or newer year engine, so that would eliminate a carb engine, as there were none for 1999 and up
So check local guides for emissions rules, it may be a "for off-road used only" swap
You can use a carb/distributor 302(5.0L) engine with an AOD or C6 automatic, or a 1997-2003 M5OD-R2 manual trans from a 4.2l V6, it will bolt to the 302 block and has shifter in same place as 1999 manual trans Ranger shifter
Computer was only used for engine and trans in 1999 so speedometer won't be an issue, or the gauges
You would need a fuel pressure regulator and to ground the fuel pump relay

For motor mounts, exhaust, oil pan, oil filter and other fitment issues with the larger engine swap
