Best way to chance the fuel filter???

just like it says.

What is the best way to change the fuel filter?

Never changed one but my brother will be helping me.
He said he thinks you bleed the sharader (sp?) valve to let the pressure out of the line, then just go from there.

is that right?

I just put a drain pan underneathe the filter and popped one of the lines loose. Your supposed to use a special tool from ford to release the certain type of quick disconnects but you can use a small screwdriver and some round hose shaped needle nose (can't think of proper name?)

I did mine with a needle nose. Be careful though when you pull the filter off the line some will squirt out.

You'll be wasting lots of time if you start bleeding the fuel system to change a fuel filter. When the line comes loose just close your eyes and a little bit will come out but it evaporates fast so there's no need to even put a drain pan under it really. As for the mini screwdriver thing that's a bit risky because if you cut the O-ring inside the line by the garter spring you'll be pissing fuel. Sears or anyone sells a set of plastic fuel line and A/C disconnect tools for less then 15 bucks that are wonderful to have.

When I did mine, I pulled the fuel pump fuse(i dont remember which one, but Mr. Rwenzing will tell you which one to pull), let it run until it started to sputter, unclipped the slips, back off that nut, and wach out for fuel spray in your eyes. Get a drain pan under it and that will help with clean up.

Good luck!!

pull fuel pump fuse.. start it run it till it dies.

Use large needle nose on the fittings.
Keep a rag handy and a hose or bucket of water.
