Back window Smashed
well i loaded up my old 36" tube TV in the back of the truck to take it to the dump... made it about 6 blocks, strapped in place....1 sudden stop... BAM it rocked forward and smashed the drivers side of the the back window (its a 3-pane with the slider)
Is there any way to replace just the one pane of glass? All the glass shops want to sell me the whole rear window ....

Another "what not to do":
Don't buy a CR Lawrence aftermarket window and try to install it unless you really know what you're doing. There are no bolts on this window, just these weak metal strips that bend over the pinchweld. The window itself doesn't seat quite right so getting a good seal is a royal pain. I've done and re-done the install and it still leaks. The second time I globbed the sealant on REALLY thick and there's still a couple spots where water gets in.
Not to mention, there is no gasket, molding, or anything around the window that seats up next to the interior molding of the truck. You can see the pinchweld and the sealant gooped all up in the cracks. I've tried to put more sealant in but still no luck so far.
Bottom line CR Lawrence windows suck, don't buy one. I got mine off e-bay for $173 but it's worth the extra money to get an OEM window. I was quoted $250 for a stock window before I got this one. I scoured every junkyard in the area before I bought it too with no luck. Every Ranger I looked at had some kind of problem with the rear window. Go figure!
Don't be a cheap penny pincher like me...if you can't find one at a junkyard, get a stock window!

It would be a very very cold day in hell before I dropped $900 on a back window. Even $300....
tell ya what, run up to the hardware store, and buy a piece of lexon, and cut it to fit your pane. Lexon is unbreakable. unlike plexiglass which is breakable. Youll save yourself atleast $250. And, youll have the peace of mind knowing that 1 pane is almost bullet proof.

It was broken on a Saturday when I was out camping. I came back Sunday night and I had work the next day. How am I supposed to go to junk yards? I'm not going to drive around with a broken window for a week just so I can hit up junk yards. I have valuable things in my truck. I'm not afraid to do my own repairs but when something needs to get done right away I don't mind paying for it to get done.
