AC compressor is usually on all the time, its to dry the air in the cab, not just for cooling
Usually OFF, PANEL and FLOOR selections will turn off compressor
Any Defrost it will be on, also Panel/Floor, and of course either AC selection
If OFF selection doesn't turn off AC compressor then the control panel may have a short in it, sending 12volts to computer all the time, that's what turns on the Compressor
