4x4 acting up?

Haha! Got the truck, they did it free of charge since it was still under warranty from the wheel-bearing/hub replacement!
We got the truck, went down to a spot near a park where there was some grass I could go on, put it in 4wd and punched it, took off like a rocket. Put it in 2wd, spun like crazy. Thanks for the help guys! I'll definitely keep manual in mind just in case something happens down the road!

Well, I am new to the site, and new to the topic of four wheel drive. I have a 2000 Ford Ranger. I notice that the years mentioned in this topic all concern mid ninety's rangers. Are the 2000's vacuum like the earlier years? I have a problem of the hubs not locking also. With the engine off and the switch in the on position, I put it in 4wd and I can hear the motor on the t-case working. So I think it is ok.
Thanks!
Thanks!

They switched over to a live axle in the newer model 2000s if your truck is a 2000 and it was made in 2000 you will most likey have a Live axle. Best way to check to see is if you take off your front center caps, and if there is a big nut behind it you have a live axle, If not then you have auto hubs.
