Hello all-
first, thank you all for reading and responding if you have feedback for me. I recently purchased a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT super cab 2.8 L Turbo Diesel in Costa Rica.
It has 22k original miles (really!) and was made in Argentina. I have tracked the VIN and vehicle history.

I knew there were several electrical issues--- window motors, power side view mirrors, the 4 WD servo failed the same day I test drove it ( heard it go), a battery drain issue, a non operative temp gauge, and a few other minors.

There is some minor cosmetic stuff as well, but that is not relevant to this forum.

On the first shake out drive through the mountains, 200 kilometers exactly, the head gasket appears to have blown as I literally pulled into the driveway at 200 km. Water began running down from the back top of the engine at the base of the head.

I was planning to do a lot of upgrades just for the sake of age, and now I see I am going to have to go further. Again, putting aside cosmetic stuff for now, I am seeking advice from anyone who knows this truck.

One main question I have is if the basic body style/parts/etc match the US version, and if main parts such as alternator, AC compressor, timing belt, shocks, bearings, glow plugs, etc... all can match aftermarket parts in the US, and what year(s) they might coincide with.

I will be honest and say I have a lot of questions, need a lot of help, and have decent skills and experience so I wont waste anyone's time.
