Ok so i bought a old farm truck .. it was sitting all sad and lonely in the farmers field for years not getting any attention, i decided i had to adopt it. Currently it has the 2.9L V6 engine , i have decided that i would like to restore the truck a bit but also make it something that i can tinker with and go play in. i have exactly 0 experience with the 4.0L motors , however in google searches they seem to be quite popular, The 5.0 however i have extensive experience playing with. So in short im looking for a pro-con type dialogue to help me make my choice. i have already called the shops here locally and to my understanding a 5.0 swap is going to cost me " thousands ". But what else am i going to throw money at ??

Also aside from LMC are there any other places to look for ranger parts and/or after market parts? Rangers are slim pickens around here so there is not much in the junk yards.

all in all i bought the truck for $500 so tossing a little bit of money at it does not really bother me.
