06 Ranger does not turn off.
The other day I put it in park pulled the key everything turned off but the engine. I drove it for a few days with no issue. Then yesterday I get home and it won't turn off. My neighbor said there is some kind of linkage under the steering column so I stuck my hand down there and wiggles a few wires and it turned off. But it wasn't a normal turn off it almost sounded like kinda threw up before turning off. I'm not sure where I should start looking first. Also, both times it happened was after a car wash. Not right after but maybe 30-40 minutes after a wash. And I've had it washed plenty of times before so not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I've seen a few 04+ Rangers have issues with the interior fuse box (passenger side kick panel) getting corrosion in the connectors and causing weird issues like the truck not shutting off and the windshield wipers going off when you hit the horn. Haha. Might want to unplug the connectors going to that fuse box and look for the icky green stuff. If you find any, look for damage to those specific wires.

Could be the ignition switch failing
Ignition switch is under the steering column, the key just slides a rod inside the column when you turn it and that moves the ignition switch into its 4 positions
In the movies or TV shows, the people reach under the steering column and pull out a handful of wires, those are the ignition switch wires, and then they touch a few together and start the engine, and drive away
What about the LOCKED steering wheel????
Anyway, ignition switch could also be the issue

Previous owner installed an aftermarket cruise control system an audiovox css100. Didn't work when I bought the truck sometimes the light would come on sometimes it wouldn't. Anyways, I was poking around down there looking at the trouble lights between the speed and tach and noticed the brake light and parking brake light would kinda come on real faint and if I jiggled wired I could get them to light up 100%. So I pulled the aftermarket cruise fuse and disconnected the red positive wire and turned the truck on and off about a dozen times. I also inspected the passenger fuse box for water but it looked good and dry.
