‘93 ranger highbeams only flash
My ‘93 rangers’ highbeams only work when I flash them but don’t work when I try to actually turn them on. I was thinking it might be a fuse but when I looked it up to double check I couldn’t find much on why it could be happening so I thought I would ask you all

Welcome to the forum
Low and High beams use the same fuse, 12volts comes from the Main Light switch, main light switch is powered by Fuse 2 in engine bay fuse box
Flash to pass has a different fuse because it has 12volts all the time not just when Main Light switch is on
If Flash to pass works then the wires to the high beams and bulbs are OK
If low beams work then fuse and main light switch are OK
If only high beams don't work then the Multi-function switch is the most likely problem

Could be a connector on the multi-function switch didn't get a good connection when plugged back in, or new switch is defective
"New" just means NEVER EVER TESTED now-a-days, companies make the parts and send them out, YOU are the tester, and they will replace it under warranty
Was the battery disconnected when you were unplugging and plugging back in the new switch, should have been as there are "live" 12volt wires in that switch, so it can blow fuses, but that should effect both sides in a 1993 not just one side

Pull it out and look at the fuse, easy to see if its blown
Main light switch off
When you pull back on the stalk, "flash to pass", does the High Beam light on the dash come on?
But just 1 head light?
Main light switch on
Only low beam on one side?
Did you ever unplug the non-working side or other connectors in engine bay when looking for the problem before replacing the switch?

And I just recently bought this truck, so the person before me might have, however, to my knowledge it worked just fine before hand when I had a mechanic shop look over the truck.

Could it possibly be that the wire connector, that connects to the multi function switch could have broken when I replaced it and I didn’t notice?

No, not likely
Looking at the diagram there is only 1 wire OUT for low beams, that 1 wire then splits to both sides, so if one side works then multi-function switch is working
The Park lights don't pass thru the multi-function switch at all, and its not working on that side either
The headlight, park light and turn light share a common ground, different ground on each side
But the fact the turn bulb works would mean its grounded
The park/turn is a dual filament bulb and has 3 wire connector, 12v Park(brown), 12v Turn, and common ground wire(black)
Headlight connector also has 3 wires, Low 12v(red/black), High 12v(green/black) and ground(black)
You are at the point where you will need to access these connections and test voltages on the non-working side, and ground
