Tow hooks on 04+ EDGE/Sport 2wd

Hey has anyone figured out a way to mount tow hooks to their 04+ EDGE/Sport 2wd? I want to get tow hooks for the front but don't know where I can mount them.

Do you not have the holes on the frame horns to bolt them into?? My 03 does.

you can drill the holes and reinforce the front cross member.. but i wouldn't pull from it unless you strengthen it.. the 04+ 2WD is weaker...

do you have the crossmember? If so just get some hooks and bolt them in.

If you dont have a crossmember, I was looking at tommys truck and was going to just get a piece of 2x4 thick steel and weld it in between the frame rails with some gussets on the backside.

Oh well, that sucks. Maybe if someone had a pic of a 04-up w/o a bumper/valance attached, I'm sure that would help... I wonder why they did that.

Just get a front receiver hitch dude. Its stronger and more versatile than those tow loops anyways.

Thats a good idea too, i havent thought of that. If I offroaded enough to need one I would, i mainly just want some sort of tow point to pull people out of ditches with and stuff around town.

never pull someone out backwards.. well at least if you have a 4x4 dont its bad on the transfer case...

get a rear hitch with a shackle receiver...

a front hitch is tons stonger then those tow hooks. for one you have to pull from BOTH at the same time or risk tweaking your front cross member and or frame...

Thats what i'm going to do is just get a hitch with a shackle receiver, I was just going to get tow hooks with it but I shouldn't need to pull some one out that direction.

Yep thats what i've been doing is watching Craigslist. I had one for 50 but it was like a hour and a half away so gas would have been the same as buying it new. This whole being in college without a job thing is definitely inhibiting my modding the truck.

Yeah i'm not worried about it. I've gotten more parts in the last month since i've been up there since i've had the truck haha. Gotta love summer jobs. It's moving along nicely, i'm enjoying it and thats what the point is.

Trent, I went to the local Ford dealer, and they told me that my tow hooks wouldn't work on your truck. These have to be mounted to the right place, because of the shape of them.
