Rear bumber mock-up

Made up my mind, I think
So i was in the bathroom, where a lot of great thinking happens. I was thinking about my bumper and what i was going to do, should have been thinking about my organic chemistry exam on Monday but just couldn't make myself do it. i think i am going to go with the U shaped bumper. I think it is going to work better for application. It will be easier to incorporate the lights since after they are in bumper i still have to be able to get to them if a bulb burns out or they need replacement. It will be flat on top so it will have a built in step. I will be they way I'm thinking of building it i will be able to add extra support and strength inside. So i think i have made up my mind. now i just have to get together enough material to do it. I might have to take that idea of going to a scrape yard and try to find so sheet metal or something that will work. I think I'm going to have to have somebody machine a few parts for it but other than that i'm going to see if my dad can help me weld it together when we are not busy working on our house. I will keep this updated on what is going on with the bumper. thanks for the help.

Well i found a pipe while i was on spring break at my grandmas old hog farm now i just have to cut it and weld it back together so i will have the right lenth. I have my dad looking for some flat steel because he works at a plant that makes tire rims for tractors and stuff like that. I need some advice on stuff to put on it.
Im not sure if i want to put something like this to put on so i can put a clevis through it
or this that i can just weld on.
And i am also up in the air about the lights. I know i want backup lights but should i also put in tail and stop lights?
I was thinking about using lights like this but i couldnt come up with a way to use them and keep the bumper mostly water tight
Then i found trailer lights that mount in bumpers and they have rubber groments to keep most of the water out so i was thinking about using lights like these but havnt decided if i was oval ones so i can stack them or go with round ones and put them side by side.
Oval
And i found two types of round ones but not sure which i like.
or this kind?
If you guys could give my your opinions that would be great! I will try to gets some pics up next weekend when im home trying to cut the pipe and weld it back together.
Thanks

Yeah thats where i was thinking i needed to go. I was liking the looks of the "sei truck" lights that i posted. I was interested in the LED's but then i saw some prices for them on the internet and they were at least $30 dollars a light. I want it to look good but i dont want to spend $100 on lights if you know what i meen.

UPDATE!!!
I havnt worked on this lately. But after i did my body lift, the mounts that i made wont work, so I scrapped that idea. its still going to have the hitch and back up lights, im also going to add through bumper shackle mounts that will be welded directly to the bumper mounts.
I am thinking about mounting the license plate on the tail gate with a lighted mount. then i will have to run the wires in from the bottom and have quick disconnects for when i take the tail gate off. this is what the mount looks like.

the light hole will be all the way through the bumper and will have a cover on the back to keep dirt and stuff from getting in there and causing it to rust.
I wanted shackle mounts that looked like this
http://compare.ebay.com/like/2806092...=263602_309572
but i couldnt find any that were long enough for how i want to set it up so i think im going to go with these.

i still need to come up with a way to make chain hookups for the hitch
The pictures are of the light hole with the light in it. the other one is of the entire bumper the middle hole is for the hitch the other two are the lights and then there will be two more where the bumper mounts go for the shackles. the other one is a scan of the paper that has the measurements for setting up the angles and distances for the bottom and inside supports for the bumper.
I might start working on it next week during spring break just getting some of the pieces cut out. but first i have to get my frame fixed and staighted out. once i start building it i will make a new thread on that.

i ordered the rest of the parts today. i still have to get a few pieces of metal, some bolts, and some cut off wheels for the grinder; but i have to wait untill im home to get that stuff. i hope to have all of the peices i need cut out to the right deminsions by the time spring break is over and maybe some of it welded together. but we will see how progress goes.
