I got to thinking these things are pretty cheap to make if you can weld. But now I have 2 designs and not sure which I like best. Feel free to leave any input you have as far as design or new ideas or something I could add.

I'd change up the #2 option. I really really really like mine....sorry...gotta ***** it out again. Protech brand. All aluminum. But $pendy.
I made one in a similar fashion back in high school to look like my current one, but made with 2x2x1/8 wall steel.
imo...option #2 is best looking, but take away all the weird stuff goin on in the middle. lol. Just plain, and simple, and uncomplicated is where it's at.
(sorry to hack kinda)

I have decided on #2 as have most of you.
I made up a cardboard one before I went away last weekend and I had to tweak some measurements to better fit the angle of the cab. The height and width are perfect just need the angles of the side pieces to line up.
The buddy of mine that is making it for me is leaving town for a week or so, so it will be a few weeks before I get any more progress than cardboard.
I like the idea of utility lights on inside and I added my own touch.
The 17 would just be bolted in with some small bolts so I could take it out. If/when it appears a little too redneckish (if there is such a thing).
