TrePaul's Auto to manual swap

Now most of you know I'm going to be swapping the auto out this week. I'm hoping by Saturday, but if not before then... Then on Saturday for sure.

I have all the compenents I need for the swap.

Picked up my stock shifter from Shane tonight as well as a manual trans tail housing for my trans. Imagine that, shane has enough parts to build a new ranger from the ground up lol.

Also took my flywheel I pulled off that 02 that was wrecked into the machine shop and had it resurfaced for $35.

Shane picked me up my floor plate and steering column shroud today too for $5. Oh and I also picked up my clutch line from Billy's dad at Ford for $78 and some change.... Happy to say, I'll have an FX4 ball soon as well. Thanks Billy's dad!

I'm going to go full blown OEM swap. I even took the factory wiring tied to that PCM from the truck I pulled everything from. New clutch and slave and i'll be good for quite some time! Oh and can't forget about my already 31 spline swap that took place 2 days ago!

I'll have pics soon guys, when I do it... Just wanted to make this thread to get it going. Shane will probably take more pics than me, but eventually, all the pics will be up!

Parts list:

Manual trans with tail housing (Year and motor dependent) - $145
Flywheel (New or machined) - Wasn't charged but $35 for it to be machined
Starter (adaptive to manual trans) - Wasn't charged for this
PCM (manual trans, preferably the PCM from the truck you pulled the tranny from) - Wasn't charged for this
Wiring harness - $5
Pedal assembly - Wasn't charged for this
Master clyinder - Wasn't charged for this
Clutch resevoir - Wasn't charged for this
Clutch line - $78.56 from Ford direct
Slave cylinder - $64 from Schucks/Kreger
Clutch kit - $230 from Schucks
New steering column surrounding plastic - $2.50 (split between this and the floor plate, at least what I was charged for)
Floor plate with hole cut for manual trans shifter - $2.50
Plastic piece with rubber boot that goes on top of the floor plate - Wasn't charged for this
Trans shifter - Free from Shane, making my own setup
Shifter extension (If body lifted) - Making my own
Shifter Ball - FX4 BALL!!! - Around $50
Shifter Boot - Unsure yet, going to have one made I think
Floor bezel (bezel with cup holders, expo console or what have you) - Using my console

Right now I'm sitting at just over $600 for the swap. Just depends on who you know and what you can get in your tool box when you leave a junk yard lol

If I'm leaving something else lemme know, but that should be everything.

This was always a common repeated thread question, right up there with the 2wd to 4wd swap.

Good to see someone tackling this. Now those questions can be pointed to this thread. Post pics along the way and include prices for parts and overall cost in the end. I'm sure others will find this helpfull.

i was kinda looking at doing this also -- any advantages other then little faster since you shift when you wanna?

now you could get a manual tcase and have twin shifters right? just like the lvlIIs?

Maybe in time I might try. But those tail housings are a diamond in the rough find lol. So we'll see.

MPG will play in also. I'll gain a few MPG's with different driving habbits. Plus it just looks more BA!

Bigger stronger axle. I'll be running a 37 when it's time to SAS and I won't have to find a 9in of d60 for the rear. I"ll just get myself a HPD44 for the front and slap some 37's on it and i'll be plenty strong enough.

He did that one on his own! Heck, I walk outside the shop to get something outta my truck and out comes Shane holding his head with a rag and says "Here I got your ball off" and tosses the shifter arm at me and walks inside. lol

Kids I tell ya.
