Hmm i want to do mine 2 tone... How do you think my silver ranger would look with either DSG on the hood and grill or Sonic blue, And do the opposite of Sonic04Edge

I need a new grille anyway so maybe i will try to find a STX grille

i would not recommend going DSG on silver, you need contrast, but semi gloss black looks sick, see tyler's truck

It looks gooooooooooood!

I still want to redo mine. I've kinda been thinking like a tobacco brown or pewter metal color..... Yes i get out of the box when it comes to color. When I have anything at my disposal, the gears start turning.

Im not sure I'm feeling the darker browns as much as I thought I would. I'll do a test spray at work to see if I like how the colors jive on real parts. (we have front ends on jigs I can spray with real colors).

Here are some 'chops though.

BTW I've had a thing for brown colors for a while. Ford had a design your own Mustang site a while back and I did one in a brown color that looked sick. I might see if I can make something like this -

Just as I suspected....a little "eh". Brown on black on other trucks work fine.....but in this application and location....eh...not feelin' it too much.

it's the angle you look at the paint on the hood in... it makes it look darker than it is... the middle shade of brown looks fairly good, i have to say... the creme colour and the poo brown... not so much...

I have a question regarding doing the two-tone hood since I've never done any custom work like that: When masking the area off and sanding the area for prep, how do you keep the sandpaper from scuffing the tape edges and messing up the lines?

When I did my hood I scuffed the whole hood and then laid out the pattern. I masked off the surrounding parts of the hood and shot the DSG. After that, I took off all of the tape and paper from the hood and cleared the whole thing.

Now, if you want to do like a satin black or something that will not have the entire hood cleared, You can lay out the pattern and sand the area you want painted, but leave the edges until last. You can then use a grey or gold Scotchbrite pad to get the edges. You will still need to use some care to not push the tape back, but the Scotchbrite pad will be less likely to jack up the tape than regular sandpaper.

I saw your response in the other thread, I'll photoshop your truck when I get home later on tonight.

Awesome, thanks for your help! Things are warming up down here so I'm getting the itch to try some things out.

I suppose the worst-case scenario is that I mess it up and have to pay someone else to do it...

SOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo guess what I decided to test today?

Yeah. I took one of the jigs we have set up at work and sprayed it black and I two toned it with what I THINK is that color lol. (Ford code HS ? We have it listed as "Earth" in our computer)

I kind of dig it. It looks better in the flesh than in my ****ty P'Chops

I dont think that color fits too well with the black - only because its got that sparkly shine to it, and the rest of the truck doesnt.. it looks good, excellent on the prep and spray - its just not the right type of color combo i was thinking it might be

Two tone powerdome/grille work looks badass on the Rangers. My favorite two tone truck:
