Tonneau Seal Question

Tonneau Seal Question
Recently bout a NIB Extang snap tonneau on eBay for cheap and got it put on just fine. It looks great, although I agree the snaps are a PIA. I won't unsnap it much, and was much cheaper than a tilt or Access with the Velcro.
Anyway, to my question. I have a flareside/ splash and the front bar on the tonneau sits about an inch or two higher than the top of the front bed panel so the foam doesn't make contact to form a seal. I am sure this lets a lot of air in and maybe even some water so I want to seal it up.
Has anybody run across this before and have a quick fix? I have a couple pieces of extruded rubber I was going to stick to the bottom of the header panel, but was also thinking of sticking a couple pieces of aluminum to fill the gap a little better then sticking the seal to that.
Thanks for the help!
