Thinking about ditching the HIDS

Ive been running hid's in my truck since i got it a year ago, and had them in my 99 for probably 2 years before that. Im thinking of getting rid of them. There not that great when its wet out, and the cops have been cracking down around here on them. Before i had HID's i was running Silver stars. I loved them, now i notice they have the silver stat ultras and the silverstar ZXE's... Which are the best ones, or is there a completely different bulb that is more recommended?

i don't have any experience with the HID lights, but a buddy of mine runs them in his tahoe. he never has any problems when it's raining. Silverstars are great lights, and if i had the cash, i would run them in my truck. i was actually considering a HID swap, but you got me thinking now. how are they not good when it's wet? do they fog up or something?

Probably glare in the road. Which means he either a.) doesn't have projectors, or b.) he has 6000k temp bulbs which will glare due to the color.

I have silver star ultras. They're ok for halogens. Nothing amazing though.

Yes I've had mine with and without projectors I've also run the ZXES and silverstars. Silverstars are great for stock halogens ZXES burn up far to quickly for what they cost! Ive had my projectors with HIDS for several years now and i don't use the crazy blue they are the white ones and hands down they are great if aimed correctly they are much better than any halogen and cops cannot say anything if they are in projector lens. HIDS have always been illegal in stock housings they don't reflect the light correctly and just make it impossible for you to see and blind other drivers,

technically unless you use OEM projectors cops CAN give you a hard time. Lighting needs to be DOT approved. technically.

99% chance you wont have any issues though.

Old DDM tuning ones. One ballast needs replaced. It is a high low kit. PM if interested and i can describe why ballast needs replaced.

This thread is from a year ago lol. I have already taken the hid's out and am happy with the decision.

They suck in the rain due to the color. There is no "glare" as you say. When the color hits the wet road it basically doesnt show and is like a black area, cant see on the road but is lit up all around.
