Tail Lights Finally Nightshaded and Led Bulbs put in.

Did my 3'rd brake light months ago but have been too busy and out of town for a while so the tails never got done. I threw in an old cracked pair off my rolled parts truck and did mine over a few coffee breaks at work. They had a nasty scratch on them from a bike pedal i think so i had to sand that out, and sanded down all the little circles in them from the mould and brought them down to 1000 grit, then scrubbed them with blending paste and a yellow brillo. Masked the clear section, sprayed 2 coats of nightshade (did not want them super dark) then took the masking off the clear parts, scrubbed them with a yellow brillo and blending paste again had them clearcoated by one of the painters. I think they came out good, they are exactly as dark as i was aiming for and came out nice and glossy. I got my superbrightled order as well, put in my tail bulbs but havnt had a chance go get any night shots.

Not to be a downer or anything but I would have recommended going with OSRAM Sylvania L1224R LED tails. Best bulbs you can get :)
* JP7 on these forums might still have a few...

I see a problem with the bulb you got right off the bat as it wont properly use the reflector in your tail light housing thus it wont be very bright. L1224Rs do an excellent job of this.

I agree, they are not quite as bright as a regular bulb, I just bought a few to see how they were when I ordered the leds for my console and dash. They do have a few on the backside that shine back the reflector but they do look more like red spots than the whole lens lighting up. I might check into those other ones, thanks!

Those tails look great. One day I will get around to doing my tails and that is the exact color I want.

Thanks! Every time i do it it looks a little better. I am surprised at how well I managed to hide the scratches in it. Only problem is i have everybody who sees them bugging me to do theirs. haha

Yeah I must say that is a good looking nightshade job. I'm not usually a fan of nightshade tails or headlamps but those turned out perfect on your truck.
