Spray-on smoked tail lights... flat black?

Hey, I'm thinking of smoking my tail lights and brake light... Most vehicles you see with this done have a glossy look to them, and i find a lot of them tend to get a sort of purple/burgandy/pink look to them, maybe just they aren't dark enough so too much red shows through, I don't know? But lately I've been seeing more and more people driving around with blacked out tail lights that aren't glossy, they're just flat black, and they don't seem to have any pinks or purples or reds showing through, but the lights still come through clear.. anyone know what product to use or how I can get this look for my truck?

sounds like you just want to burry lights under nightshades or other light tinting paint and then dont sand or clear coat them, just let them fade because uv will dull them out over time

that's probably it, I'll just have to grab a scrap light from a junk yard or something to do some trial and error to find what I want before I mess up one of my own tail lights.
