Is it safe to drill into the door jams?

I've been doing a little research on some snug tops and camper shells and I've found that they are pretty expensive especially one the same color as my truck. then i found some old 4runners with bikini tops and thought i can do that to my truck. all i have to do is drill the Yota roll bar into the bed. but i don't know how to go about attaching the top to the cab. i figured i could rig something up by drilling into the drive and passenger door jam since i don't have a cab like the 4Runners. but I'm not even sure if the door will close all the way. i know i can tie down the bikini top to the tie downs by the tailgate but i really want to know if i'd be safe drilling into the door jam and attaching the top to the door jam.

if you guys have any other ideas please let me know. i think this will work if theres a way to attach it to the cab or near the cab without to much carnage. thanks

Why are you putting a bikini top in you bed?

If I was doing it, I'd just keep it separate from the cab.
