I'm most likely doing mine this week and need to know the same questions. I think you can get the clear coat at perpboys or autozone.

clean the lights really good with dishsoap(use a rag and try not to get water in the light, the goal is to remove any dirt/wax/oil), tape off the reverse lights(masking tape and a sharp razerblade works wonders, i find it easier to stick the tape to my hand first so its easier to remove), spray two VERY LIGHT coats of nightshade, then one or two LIGHT coats of clear, any clearcoat will work, but better is always.. well.. better?

after the first coat of nightshade you can untape the reverse light if you would like, but that is upto you.

make sure you read the cure time of the nightshade/clear on the cans.

you can always tape the holes up for the lightbulbs, it would be a good idea.

just make sure you don't put alot of nightshade on the lights, it gets very thick and dark very fast.

goodluck.

that would work to, it would dry faster, but im sure the dish soap would clean alot better.

Not too bad. I used like 4 coats though. The sun still shined through a lot when I took them outside so I don't have a doubt that the light bulbs will. I know I could have done a lot better though if I didn't rush like I did. There are a couple runs on each light which are barely noticeable. I think I should have shaken the can more before using it because the first spray pretty much ran all over the light. Oh well, it should look decent I guess.

I used either 3 or 4 coats. After the 2nd coat, it started to get very dark. I still need to put a glossy clear on there, because I just use a transparent, non shiny clear from duplicolor I had lying around.
