Name of part! “Cap” at the seam between the Super Cab panel and roof panel.
What is the name of this part?
The cap at the junction between the Super Cab panel and the roof panel.
Water has to be leaking down inside/behind the Super Cab panel, rust on the inside of the plastic that I put to protect the bare sheet-metal. With this new rust I am convinced there is a leak at the roof that runs down the inside of the Super Cab panel, I am convinced this is the reason why that area was getting rust blistered paint!
Close-up of the flaking paint along that junction between the roof panel and the super cab panel,
The sandblasted area of the lower rear door jam.

Thank you very much RonD
Thank you very much RonD!
your reply unlocked it for me. I was able to Google how to remove it! You almost certainly saved me at least 50 bucks (if not more for damaging the sheet-metal of the roof and crew cab panel by trying to pry it off). This video is not my year (2005) or model (Edge) but same concept, nuts holding it from the inside, remove interior plastic trim panels. it hadn’t occurred to me that it was bolted from the inside!
I didn’t know the name and I couldn’t find any images of it through Ford parts! I didn’t see an image or listing of it at all ever on any of my searches in Ford parts.
video,
it’s leaking on both sides and I would like to try to deal with that paint flaking on the edge of the roof panel.
The Ford diagram gives absolutely no clue how it’s attached, I found some images online that show studs.
Thank you very much RonD, now I can proceed with some confidence and not damage (by probing blindly how to remove the drip cap) the sheet-metal of the roof or the sheet-metal of the super cab panel! Oh my god that’s a tremendous relief. In my mind’s eye there was a spot welded seam under the cap and possibly the cap snapped over/on or adhered with 3M tape, I thought it could’ve even been a plastic cap.
this group is a fabulous resource and you are a very valuable asset to the group Mr. RonD.

Now I understand how it’s attached. I should’ve checked it with a magnet but I had no idea it was a plastic cap that popped off or a metal cap that popped off from prying.
Surprisingly expensive part!
No indication of how it’s attached
