Inner fender slash guard 2008
I recently purchased a 2008 Ranger Sport 4WD. My son noticed that the inner fender splash guard (rubber flap over the suspension arm) on the left side was missing. I note that the mounting holes are there but no guard. The right hand side is present. I inquired at my dealer and the parts man found a picture and part no. for that one. I looked at about 7 more new Rangers and all were the same as mine. Does anyone with a late model share my situation or know why this is? Thanks.

ford does not put the splash guard on the driver side to keep under hood temperatures down during the hot soak tests. Seeing that you live in the north you could buy a passenger side splash guard and mount it on the drivers side with no ill effects. The part # number for the passenger side splash guard is F87Z16102AA and runs around $17.00 US.

On mine, there are still holes punched in the bed for the pushpins of the missing shields, so I think a retrofit is possible. I checked the dealer price earlier this summer and it was sorta high for a couple of pieces of flat plastic.
I might use the ones I have as a pattern to make 2 more. Probably should reroute the axle breather to a better location, too.

I noticed the same thing on my 06 and ordered one for the other side. I noticed it because I have my transformer for my underbody lights on the side without one and wanted one to cover it from mud or flying debree. If you do order it then it will come with the actual piece and the push holders for it.
