nobody has done it at all. lol.

mossy just about covered it....but i will note:

no need for fenders or hood latch...since you dont need to change the hood. Even if you do upgrade to the 01-03 powerdome, you still dont need to swap latches. You will also need to get the headlamp retainer sliders as well to hold the headlamps to the header panel properly. There's also little nutset/jnut wtf u call those things on the header panel to secure the grille to it...same goes iwth the corner lamps.

To eliminate the extra turnsignal bulb, simply unclip the extra bulb, and put in an electronic flasher designed for LEDs...this will get rid of the 'hyperflash' when you disconnect a bulb. AND it's alot safer than running a hot hot bulb just ziptied away and possibly covered with electrical tape.

I've done the 01-03 swap on a 98, and put an 01-03 hood on another 98.....latches just fine and no need. I've actually dont remember if ive ever even seen it discussed during any swap thread either.

Shane is correct no need for the latch or the hood unless you want a power dome. If you go with 04 or newer the hood and latch are required. Bumper is optional also.

can I use the the bolts/retainers for the header panel and new headlights that are on my 2000? And for the bumper do I have to get new brackets and stuff. If I have to get them along with other things where can I get them?

believe me...you want the headlamp retainers at least. some of the little screws andsuch should work out fine...when idid that one, i ended up getting all new hardware/clips etc.

here's what you need...2 of each...so 4 total.

I took these pics for another person doing an 01-03 conversion to their 98-00...

all pics are taken of a factory '01(my truck). Some things you certainly dont need like te plastic cover things....but i like to make things look factory and correct.

Digging this up because it has some good info on it and I dont want to lose it later (thanks guys).

Also, heres a little list I've been thinking about

Are the little silver things the so called 'tabs' I need from the dealer? or are they transferable from truck to truck?

Will my 00 lights fit in the 01 light spot?

Shane, you mentioned replaceing the extra bulb with a flasher? What size and how would I do it?

I'm sure Ill think of more.

Another note, the painted headlight mod... has anyone done it with white paint? I'm curious on how it would come out.

And Shane, your barbed wire pinstripe is BA!

Nope, they have to be 01 and up.

Which "tabs"? The little nutserts? like these? If so, they just slide right off.

Someone here has done it with sonic blue, and it turned out good. If you don't like it, then just paint over it lol.

And for the Flasher, I think you just splice it into the wire, just like you would for an LED.

If that was the case couldn't I just kind of 'cut out' the extra bulb?

If you do that, there is not enough resistance for the other bulb. You will get a very fast flash from the signal bulb, it will get very annoying.
